Biography

Troy Abbott is a digital artist best known for his installations depicting caged birds. His art, which fuses technology and recycled materials, explores the interactions between old and new, found and manufactured, and human and digital.  Abbott’s found birdcages, recycled video game circuitry and looped videos of birds ask the viewers to examine the relationships between life and death and relevance and obscurity.

In 2009, Abbott was recognized by the contemporary art community when he received a grant from the American Foundation for the Arts.
