Russian-born artist Lidia Vitkovskaya creates conceptual works which explore themes of freedom, identity, and culture. Often fusing digital methods and varied materials, Vitkovskaya creates a story with each work, and says that to tell a narrative "in a way that will be understood by a spectator" is "the highest magic in art." Her holographic works, often focused on socially topical concepts, examine the relationships between different facets of the same idea - for instance, the personal life of a professional soldier, or the private and public identities of a celebrity. Vitkovskaya's works have been exhibited at the Russian State Museum in St. Petersburg and have been featured at Art Miami, the London Biennale, and the Venice Biennale.
