Bivins Gallery is pleased to present Jack Whitten: Earlier Works. Living legend Jack Whitten’s newest body of work is currently represented by Hauser & Wirth and has been shown at the Whitney, MoMA, and the Smithsonian. The exhibition features paintings and works on paper created by Whitten between 1964 and 1969, and speaks directly to the social and political turmoil of the era. A digital catalogue for Jack Whitten can be found here. This exhibition also includes a young, local artist, Spencer Evans. Even though the works span a difference of fifty years, we think the dialogue between the two artists is incredibly topical today.
